With the new movie opening this week, the Star Trek story universe created by these actors and this crew will end. In the posts below, my pre-opening thoughts on the new movie, and in these last hours when this is still the crew of the Starship Enterprise, a tribute to the original cast and their final movie together, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered County.

How on earth do you know that?

I too feel that ST VI is the best representation of the soul of Star Trek. My favourite. Great article. Thank you!

Why oh why oh why do they always have to change things. The Enterprise is diffrent, original storyline gone.. to books fall to pieces all because of a new timeline? I hate this when it happens, I love Trek, and although the film looks good I cannot help but question. I dont think I will bother... afterall money is all important. If only Rodenberry was alive....

I'm curious to see the movie but I hop its original and not a knock-off. That would be disappointing. BTW, some free Star Trek sweepstakes can be found here: http://bit.ly/Tf3W6

Hi Captain Future,

I want to call your attention to a new documentary about Gene Roddenberry and Star Trek, called Trek Nation. You can see the trailer here. Hopefully it will be released soon!

Enjoyed your recent series of blog posts about the concerns surrounding the opening of the new Star Trek movie and the destruction of the old Star Trek universe.

We would like to invite you to embed this Newsy.com video into your site to augment its excellent content. I think the ‘Beam Me Up, Box Office’ video

I am so excited to see this tonight. Going to see it here in NYC. The cast looks amazing and though I'm not a big Trek fan, I am sure I can catch on quick with this one. I also saw this amazing interview online where the guys really just seem to get along so well, plus they look really hot, lol. Enjoy the Trek eye candy!

I enjoyed the movie, right till the very end where I learned that they where killing the last 40+ years of Star Trek Canon. I hadn't read anything before hand and didn't know what they had planed. :( I really can't say how upset I am at the direction they have taken all that I know and Love about Star Trek.

The old storyline doesn't really have to end, since we have what Spock referred to as "an alternate timeline." The old timeline can continue on its own sans Spock and Romulus.
