R.I.P. 2012
Among those we lost in 2012 from the Star Trek and related science fiction familes: Mary Tamm, who played the first Romana in Doctor Who. Ray Bradbury (shown here seated in the time machine used in the 1950s movie of the H.G. Wells story), great science fiction writer and friend of Star Trek and Gene Roddenberry. Joan Taylor, costar of a 1950s s/f classic, Earth v. the Flying Saucers. Warren Stevens, shown here in the TOS episode "By Any Other Name," who also starred in the classic Forbidden Planet. Neil Armstrong, the first human to step onto the moon, and a Star Trek friend and fan. Below his photo is Sally Ride, the first American woman in space. William Windom, as Matt Decker in the classic TOS episode "The Doomsday Machine." Winrich "Rick" E. Kolbe, who directed 48 episodes of all four post-TOS Star Trek series.
Others we lost from the Star Trek family in 2012: actors Philip Richard Allen (Star Trek III), Gary Walberg ("Balance of Terror"), Biff Elliot ("The Devil in the Dark"), Lance LeGalt (TNG's "The Emissary"),Richard Lynch (TNG.) Joel Goldsmith, composer (with his father) on Star Trek: First Contact. Ralph Ferraro, orchestrator on Star Trek IV. Michael Clarke Duncan, voice actor on Star Trek Academy.
