The TCM series also includes representatives of some sci-fi themes related to the Cold War era but not restricted to it, like the Perils of Technology ("'>Westworld," "'>Logan's Run," "The '>Invisible Boy"), the straight-up adventure of Jules Verne's "From the Earth to the Moon," and two of the best science fiction films that truly explore cosmic ideas as well as cosmic space: "'>Forbidden Planet" and "'>2001: A Space Odyssey."

It also includes what is likely the first environmental doomsday film, "'>Soylent Green," which was prophesizing global warming in 1972. The highlight is Edward G. Robinson's death scene, which preceded his actual death by a few weeks. The images he watches of a beautiful earth, the one that we still have at the moment, is even more moving now, as global heating has in fact begun.
